The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club
URPoint Details
Founded in 1982 and to call this the Rolls Royce of golf courses is not too fanciful because this is where the first Roll Royce engine was built.
After playing this beautiful 18 hole, 6733 yards, par 72 undulating parkland course, former British US Open Champion, Tony Jacklin, wondered why Rolls of Monmouth was kept such a secret.
Greg Norman said that the four short holes were fantastic. There are great stands of magnificent trees and the course is surrounded by 600 acres of woodland.
The clubhouse is the former workshop and garage of the 18th century mansion which was home of Charles Stuart Rolls the early aviator and motoring pioneer. He formed a partnership with Henry Royce and the first engine bearing the famous names emerged from those garage doors which now form one wall of the lounge area.
