The Bowder Stone, (NT) - Grange-in-Borrowdale

Footpath to Bowder Stone requires strong pusher due to gradient; parking in roadside lay-by.

Situated at the southern end of Derwentwater, near the River Derwent and to the south beyond Grange, is the curious Bowder Stone in lovely Borrowdale.

The Bowder Stone, weighs about 2,000 tons, is 35ft high and 60ft in length. It is said that two people holding hands through a small opening beneath the stone and wishing will have their wishes granted.
