An attractive village not far from London and situated above the River Mimram in wooded countryside with narrow lanes, sloping fields and winding paths.
The small church of St Peter is still partly 11th century. The chancel was remodelled in the 13th century and the south aisle with lancet windows in the same period. The font is a fluted 18th century bowl.
Marden Hill to the southwest is an 18th century yellow brick house with later additions making it a beautiful building with an Ionic porch and entrance hall.
