The 13th century manor house of the Knights Templar which mainly provided accommodation for members of the order travelling between London and the Continent.
It later became a nunnery, then a farmhouse after the Dissolution of the Monasteries by Henry VIII.
In a ruinous state after World War II and has been restored.
The building contains a 13th century hall on a vaulted undercroft of three bays, and 17th century brick extensions.
