At one end of the village is the old church with a war memorial cross. In the church is the tomb of the Forbes family which William Forbes built in 1559, Gothic in style with Renaissance decorations.
Arched recesses contain beautiful carved figures of William and his wife who were both popular with the villagers.
The Forbes endowed an almshouse for the poor of the village.
