URPoint Details
Although there is no village here the little 12th century church sits in a field, and has been lovingly restored. Its walls are almost covered with 14th century murals. Beside the church there was once an abbey for nuns for whom was written the famous 13th century rule book by Bishop Richard Poore who instituted Salisbury Cathedral in 1200. Poore was buried in the abbey at the same time as Joan, the Queen of Scotland, daughter of King John.
