URPoint Details
Robert Burns founded his Bachelor Club here and wooed his Highland Mary – Mary Campbell, dairymaid at Montgomerie Castle. The thorn tree at which they parted still flourishes on the banks of the Ayr.
The church has stone stairs leading to the loft and the spire rises to 90ft.
To the north is the prominent 19th century Barnwell monument, associated with William Wallace and the burning of the Barns of Ayr.
