Talgarth has an old tower guarding the bridge, and an old spacious church with a tomb to the Rev. Howel Harris a pioneer of Welsh Methodism who founded a ‘family or community’ in 1752 at Trevecca just south of the town.
To the southeast is the beautiful Rhiangoll Valley, leading to Crickhowell, beyond the slopes of the lofty Black Mountains, with Waun Fach rising to 2,660ft and Pen-y-Gader to 2,624ft.
