Situated in the south of the county, in the area of Chiltern chalk, the village sits 500ft above sea level and the approach past the old church, Manor house, village green complete with pond and ducks make this a beautifully typical English little village.
Less leisure time was available when an inquiry into poor school attendance in 1874 revealed that girls were occupied plaiting and boys with weeding.
