URPoint Details
The site of Shetland’s airport, near which on Sumburgh Head, is Jarlshof – a site where man has lived for 4000 years.
The earliest inhabitants were Stone Age men of 2000BC there are extensive Bronze Age and Iron Age remains as well as those of a Viking village and a 16th century mansion.
The sandy Bay of Quendale and the dramatic cliffs of Fitful Head (928ft) are nearby.
