URPoint Details
In the east of the district in wooded country between Tidmarsh and Tilehurst is Sulham, a very small village consisting only of the church, school and a cluster of cottages. The school, quite a splendid architectural blend of Gothic and Baroque, was built in 1892, possibly to the designs of an incumbent of the church. The latter was built in 1838 and extended in 1875 when the east end was added. The chancel arch is filled by a three-arch screen and the church, as a whole, is not unlike a Florentine church in its design.
