A small village set in farming land with wide grassy banks separate the main street from the beautiful cottages many of which are thatched.
The famous Manor House was the 16th century ancestral home of the Washington family. Over the porch window are the original Stars and Stripes, and above a window are the Royal Arms, with the Lion of England and the Red Dragon of Wales, surmounted by the initials ER for Elizabeth.
The church contains Lawrence Washington’s tomb, a Washington chest, and pew and also several brasses.
