One of the show villages of Derbyshire, built in warm, mellow red brick, mostly in the 17th century, with gabled cottages and houses that edge on to the road.
In the grounds of Sudbury Hall is the parish church of All Saints, which dates from the 12th century and has a window presented by Queen Victoria.
