URPoint Details

An attractive village at the head of Loch Sunart which gave its name to the element strontium, found there in the 18th century.

Glen Strontian runs inland between the mountains of Sunart and Ardgour to the Airundle Forest Nature Reserve.

The Strontian River flows through this lovely little village sitting at the head of Loch Sunart in Morven on the road to Salen with great fishing.

The mineral strontium takes its name from this region where its ore strontianite was discovered in the lead mines.
