URPoint Details
The River Ebble is crossed here by small bridges and some stepping stones. The river wends its way through the pretty village which derives its name from the Strete Ford, where the old Roman road from Old Sarum crossed the river and from Ralph Toni who was standard bearer to William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings.
The church has a Perpendicular tower. The chancel is 14th century and the vestry was added in the 18th century are of special interest. The original stone altar slab is still used.
