Strata Florida Abbey, (CADW)

Admission charge (summer only). Parking and toilets. Disabled parking outside Abbey. Access to ticket office and exhibition is via two large steps an alternative access is available to the Abbey, then accessible to all.

Remote in the green, kite-haunted Teifi Valley, Strata Florida Abbey was one of the great cultural power houses of medieval Wales. Its white robed Cistercian monks compiled volumes of Welsh chronicles and laws, and welcomed native poets and princes.

Built between about 1184 and 1250 in a blend of international and distinctively Welsh styles, the ruined abbey church has a wonderful doorway with Celtic spiral motifs and preserves a wealth of beautiful medieval tiles.
