URPoint Details
Reached by an avenue of elms and beeches is the historic house of Stowe which was formerly the seat of the dukes of Buckingham and Chandos.
In the corner of the grounds of Stowe School are the remains of the 19th century Stowe Castle.
Also in the grounds is the humble little medieval Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary. It has some interesting monuments. The tower and a crucifix over the doorway are both 14th century and nearby is an obelisk to the memory of General Wolfe.
