URPoint Details
The river Rother and Arun meet here with a medieval bridge over the latter, and built in the early 14th century, replacing a former Anglo-Saxon wooden structure. It was restored in the 16th century and again in 1865. The three arches on either side are of the same height, with a taller and wider central arch to allow the passage of small craft in the main channel.
The parish church dates from Norman times and retains much of the original work with an Elizabethan parish chest and 15th century font.
