A village near Dartford in the industrial and commercial centre of the county.
The church of St Mary, according to tradition, was built by masons working on Westminster Abbey. The church is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Kent. The nave is lofty with a double arcade of piers, a splendid tower arch, a fine choir and a superb vaulted roof.
