The Church of St Mary has been used often in landscapes painted by John Constable.
The tower is 120ft high built largely of brick with stone dressings and with four pinnacles that dominate the local landscape. The magnificent carved south doors over 10ft high still have their figures intact.
There are some interesting tombs and brasses in the church some dating from 1400.
