Stockbridge set in the Test Valley which has some of the best fishing in England.

The wide main street has houses of all styles, mainly Tudor and Georgian crosses a low bridge which gives delightful views and rises to a hill at each end.

The permission to hold a weekly market here was granted in the reign of Richard I.

Of the old church only the chancel of the 13th century still stands along with the original door ring and traces of some wall paintings.

East of the village on Stockbridge Down, there are about 15 ancient barrows set in amongst the juniper bushes and fir trees. Woolbury Camp is an old Iron Age hill-fort, covering about 20 acres and offering marvellous views to the Isle of Wight. Danebury Ring dates from the same period.
