URPoint Details
Not far south of Peterborough, is a large village extending along a mile of the old line of the Great North Road but now mercifully by-passed by the modern A1. The name, of course is renowned (but erroneously) for the Stilton cheese was made to the west in Leicestershire and this village only saw the farmers bringing it in to load on to the stage coaches in the days when this was a great coaching village. The great hanging sign is still a well-known local feature here.
