Stephenson Railway Museum - North Shields

Fancy a trip back in time with a ride on a real steam train? Then a visit here is just the thing for you. Visitors to the Museum can see some magnificent old rolling stock. Real gems, like ‘Puffing Bill’, a rare example of George Stephenson's early design, to the superb Royal Mail carriages and impressive working steam engines, dating back to the 19th century. The adjoining North Tyneside Steam Railway, linked during the summer to the Tyneside Metro at Percy Main Station, can transport you and the family, back to the days when steam was king.
