Steetley Chapel is a Norman architectural gem, built in 1120 as a Chapel of Ease it is 56ft long and 16ft wide. It has an adventurous history but became derelict for about a hundred years. Once used for cockfighting and as a sheepfold until its complete restoration by J L Pearson in 1880.
It has been used continually since, for its intended purpose. The chapel is highly valued architecturally for its doorway and external stringcourse around the apse.
There is one small step to the entrance.
