This beautiful village which takes its name from the Harcourt family who have occupied the original and present Manor House as a family home since the 12th century is centred round the church, Manor House, splendid 17th century parsonage and lovely thatch cottages.
The fine church is Norman to Perpendicular with a very rare Early English screen, and the Harcourt Chapel has fine monuments, including one to the standard bearer of Henry VII.
To the southwest of the village are three stones known as the ‘Devil’s Quoits’.
