The village is the heart of a complex of stone circles.
The River Chew flows past the village to the north and is crossed by a fine 15th century stone bridge built by Thomas Beckington, Bishop of Bath.
Near the bridge stands the 15th century thatched Round House, taken over as a toll-house for a turnpike road in 1790.
