URPoint Details
Stanford Rivers St Margaret’s Church, is still under royal patronage. The ‘Chrisom Memorial’, near the altar is a little flat stone with a brass covering and is of a child wrapped in the Chrishom robe. It is in memory of Thomas Greville (1442), son of Giles Greville and denotes that the baby died within a month of his baptism and was buried in swaddling clothes. This is believed to be one of only two such memorials existing today.
