URPoint Details
There are no toilets specifically for public use at the Mill, but the toilets at Hardwick Hall car park can be used. Small car parking adjacent to the Mill. Access for wheelchair users to ground floor only, very steep slope down to mill.
The water powered corn mill, which is in working order, originates from the 13th century, but was subsequently rebuilt. The present mill is predominantly 18th and 19th century and was built to provide for the Hardick Estate.
The massive 17ft high water wheel, turned by water from the mill pond, powers the grinding and lifting work. The aroma of freshly ground oat grain enables the visitor to conjure up visions of the miller at work many years ago.
