The Strathmore Arms, deep in the valley is a delightful old pub, its name a reminder of the close connection of the village with the Earls of Strathmore.
A small rural village of particular interest as it was the birthplace of Queen Elizabeth, the late Queen Mother. Her home was the Bury a grand red-brick mansion of St Pauls’ Walden Bury built in 1765 and is partly by Robert Adam with polygonal bay windows, a hall with a vault and apses at each end.
