No dogs allowed. Island cafe (not NT) open April to end September: Monday to Friday. Owing to narrow passages within the castle, visitors are warned that some delays may occur at the height of the season.
On Sundays from June to September a short non-denominational service is held in the Chapel at 11am: seating is limited.
The causeway and paths are cobbled, and therefore unsuitable for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs.
Originally the site of a Benedictine chapel established by Edward the Confessor. The spectacular castle on its rocky island dates from the 14th century. Approached by a causeway at low tide, the castle has magnificent views towards Land's End and The Lizard, fascinating early rooms, an armoury and a rococo Gothic drawing room.
