URPoint Details
In front of the rather grim church of Old St Lawrence Walmgate Tower, (Churches Conservation Trust) replaced a century ago and almost hidden by tall trees in summer stands the surviving remnant of the medieval church which served the parish just outside Walmgate. The tower with its pleasing 15th century pierced parapet is enhanced by the fine Norman doorway from the old hospital chapel of St Nicholas, re-erected here when that church was demolished.
