URPoint Details
This attractive, riverside market town with its 15th century stone bridge & bridge chapel - one of only four remaining in the county and can trace its origins back to a village called Slepe, which was on the north bank of the River Ouse and meant slippery landing place.
There are some lovely old houses, buildings and pubs in the town. Barnes House dates from the 18th century and the Manor House is dated 1600.
