Bridge St, St Ives , England
URPoint Details
Open all year. Admission free.
15th century stone bridge over the river Ouse is one of the three surviving bridges in England to have a chapel in its centre bay. The bridge has six arches and was rebuilt in 1716. The chapel of St Ledger stands above the central pier and was built as a place of worship for travellers.
The interior has simple wooden furnishings. The railed balcony overlooks the river and has a very peaceful atmosphere considering it is now in the heart of a busy built-up area.
