St Audoen’s Church, Cormarket, off High St, Dublin
Open: June to September, daily 9.30am-5.30pm. Last admission 45 mins before closing. Admission charge; exhibition; toilets; disabled toilet. Partially accessible for disabled visitors.
The only remaining medieval parish church in Dublin. Dedicated to Saint Ouen the 7th century bishop of Rouen and patron saint of Normandy.
The Guild Church of St Anne houses an exhibition on the importance of St Audeon’s Church in the life of the medieval city. Part of the church is still in use by the Church of Ireland as a parish church. The recently restored 17th century memorials to the Sparke and Duff families and the 15th century effigy tomb to Baron Portleser and his wife are most interesting.
