Founded in 1412 with many alterations over the centuries it is virtually looks modern except for the 16th century tower. There are also two interesting choir stalls dated from around 1505. The interior has an elaborately carved 17th century marble monument to Archbishop Sharp who was murdered in 1779 at Magus Muir near Pitscottie.

John Knox preached his first public sermon here in 1547.
