The pier was built in 1889 to replace an earlier one and is the longest pier in the world, over 1.33 miles in length it stretches into the Estuary. Well worth the walk to see people fishing for over 25 known types of fish or take a train ride for the return trip.
There are many regular boat trips from the pier head cruising to Rochester, the Thames Estuary, Chatham, London, Whitstable, Margate, Clacton and many more.
