This shore-based lighthouse was the first to be powered by alternating electric current. It was first opened in 1871. Visitors can view the Engine Room, Light Tower, Fog Signal Station and Lighthouse keeper's cottage. Video, model and information displays.
The home of George Washington's direct ancestors from 1183-1288, and remained in the family until 1613 and was substantially rebuilt in the 17th century.
