The highest and most impressive mountain in Wales standing at 3,560ft and the northwest slopes have the railway, precipes, corries and lakes to the east and south are unrivalled for grandeur. Snowdon is the 3rd largest mountain in the British Isles
Crib-y-Ddysgl at 3,493 ft to the north, Crib Goch stands at 3,023ft Y Lliwedd at 2,947ft, the long southeast ridge and Y Aran at 2,451ft.
The mountain consists of mainly Ordovocian volcanic rock slate, porphyry and gritstone capped with felspathic lava.
