A resort on the Firth of Clyde linked to Wemyss Bay with a fine beach and fine views across the Firth to Toward Point and west to the island of Bute.
In the waters of the Firth opposite the town is a 'Measured Mile' where small vessels are tested for speed.
To the south is Skelmorlie Castle with parts dating back to 1502.
