SHORWELL (pronounced Shorrel by some locals and Islanders)
A picturesque village of old thatched cottages, an inn with a dovecot and a babbling brook complete with willow tree.
The Church of St Peter is mainly 15th century with traces of earlier work. There is an interesting and unusual wall painting of St Christopher. The pulpit is 15th century and there are some fine monuments.
