A trio of small villages including Ascott-under-Wychwood and Milton-under-Wychwood lying in the Evenlode Valley between the historic small towns of Chipping Norton and Burford, by the River Evenlode.
The large church is Early English to Perpendicular in style with a fine west door, a 15th century pulpit and font, and a curious double 18th century tomb in the churchyard. The Shaven Crown has a fine Tudor gateway and the interior is delightful with a glorious staircase and wall hangings.
A fountain recalls the deaths of 17 Shipton men in the wreck of the emigrant ship - Cospatrick in 1874 when only two people out of 477 were saved.
