URPoint Details
The church of the Holy Rood is Early Norman, with a chancel altered in about 1200, giving a beautifully proportioned East Window. The stone edge of the window-frame is hollowed to two-thirds of a circle - a very early example of such work. The early Norman font was carved later in the 13th century, and its good condition is attributed locally to the tradition that it was removed and hidden by villagers to preserve it from iconoclasts in the 17th century.
The church is a Grade II* listed building.
