The village pump and war memorial stand in a gravel-covered square set among pink-washed thatched roof cottages.
The village has been a working rural community for over 800 years and there are some natural stone farm buildings in the centre.
The Church of St Lawrence dates from the 19th century and has many fine slate tombstones.
