The Church of St Helen is the only Grade I listed building in the Borough, first built around 1170 as the private chapel of the Molyneux family and has a 14th century spire.
The woodwork in the church is remarkable for the fine carved wooden fittings including the stalls, font cover, canopied pulpit and screens. There are many fine brasses and monuments including a mailed effigy dated 1296
