One of the prettiest villages with charming 16th and 17th century houses with lovely bright gardens in the summer near the long triangular green.
A large hoard of Anglo-Saxon coins were discovered here in 1867, supposedly they were buried by King Harold’s paymaster after the Battle of Hastings.
The parish church of St John the Baptist has been rebuilt several times during the last two hundred years, but the tower dates from the 15th century.
