Sean O’Casey, born 30 March 1884 in Dublin.
His first plays were ‘The Shadow of a Gunman’ in 1923, ‘Juno and the Paycock’ in 1924 and ‘The Plough and the Stars’ in 1926. He moved to England where he wrote ‘The Silver Tassle’, ‘Within the Gates’ in 1934, ‘Purple Dust’ in 1940, ‘Red Roses for me in 1942 and The Bishop’s Bonfire in 1955.

He also wrote a series of autobiographicals ‘I Knock at the Door’ in 1939, ‘Pictures in the Hallway’ in 1942, ‘Drums under the Windows’ in 1945, ‘Inishfallen’, ‘Fare Thee Well’ in 1949, ‘Rose and crown’ in 1952 and ‘Sunset and Evening Star’ in 1954.

He died on 18 September 1964.‘
