URPoint Details
A crofting village and fishing resort lying in a sheltered sandy bay.
Palm trees grow here and are the most northerly in the world.
The landscape in this remote area of Sutherland village is one of many tiny lochans.
To the south is the small inlet of Badcall Bay part of the larger island studded bay of Eddrachilles.
To the northwest of Scourie Bay and separated from the mainland by the Sound of Handa is the island of Handa now a sea fowl sanctuary.
Eddrachilles Church overlooks Badcall Bay an inlet of the larger island studded Eddrachilles Bay. Inland there are many tiny lochans and the sharp gneiss cone of Ben Stack rises to 2,364ft.
The rough and hilly road leading southeast towards Kylesku ferry passes near the shore of the little Calca Bay with its two islands offshore and then turns inland by Loch Allt nan Airbhe.
