The Church of St Martin-on-the-Hill, built in 1862–63 as the parish church of South Cliff, built in the Gothic style and has some fine stained glass
It contains works by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Morris, Edward Burne-Jones and Ford Madox Brown.
Anne Bronte is buried in the adjoining churchyard of this 12th century church of St Mary.
