From the walls of this enormous 12th century castle you will have spectacular coastal views. The buttressed castle walls stretch out along the cliff edge and the remains of the great rectangular stone keep still stand to over three storeys high. There is also the site of a 4th century Roman signal station. The castle was frequently attacked, but despite being blasted by cannons of the Civil war and bombarded from the sea during World War I, it is still a spectacular place to visit.
