URPoint Details
The church of St Mary the Virgin was rebuilt in the late 1500's and is 200ft long. The crypt and some of the arcades date back to 1450. The carvings and brasses date from the 15th century and the black marble tomb of Thomas, Lord Audley is dated 1544. The spire is nearly 200ft high and was added in 1832, makes this church one of the finest churches in Essex.
It was designated as a Grade I listed building in 1951
